XTCC Capacitor Contactors Now Available

Eaton's XT family of IEC Power Control has just expanded to include XTCC Capacitor Contactors. These contactors are designed for the specific application requirements associated with switching power-factor correction (PFC) capacitors.

Many customers use PFC capacitors to increase the efficiencies of their overall power systems. When switching capacitors in and out of the system, the switching device or contactor can experience initial inrush currents near 180 times the nominal current. This high current can greatly reduce the life of the contactor or require significant oversizing.

XTCC contactors feature early-make auxiliary contacts that bring pre-charge resistors into the circuit to handle the high inrush currents. Anti-weld contact material also extends contactor life.
