Eaton Corporation Selected by Frost & Sullivan for 2007 Power Quality Emerging Technology Award
PITTSBURGH... Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced that its family of Power Xpert®
meters has been chosen by Frost & Sullivan for the 2007 North American Power Quality Emerging Technology of the Year
Award.
The Frost & Sullivan award is presented to the company that has demonstrated technological superiority within its industry.
This award recognizes the ability of the company to successfully develop or introduce a new technology, formulate a
well-designed product family and make significant product performance contributions to the industry. In selecting the award
recipient, Frost & Sullivan analysts interviewed major market participants, tracked emerging and existing technologies,
researched product launches, customer acceptance and time to market.
"Organizations that rely on electronics and electrical systems need to proactively monitor power problems with power quality
equipment such as Eaton's next-generation power quality meters," said Vishal Sapru, Frost & Sullivan research analyst. "Eaton
is being recognized as the 2007 award recipient for introducing its Power Xpert meters because with this technology, they have
redefined the art of power monitoring allowing customers to take highly specialized power quality data and convert it into
useful information that can be easily understood."
Power quality monitoring equipment helps companies to reduce risk, reduce maintenance activities because problems can be
detected before they occur (preventative), and reduce efforts of facility engineers and IT administrators in rectifying the
problem. Eaton's Power Xpert meters prevent equipment from being damaged by accurately detecting transient and disturbance
events, providing early warnings, reducing the cost of monitoring power quality and supporting continuous, non-disruptive
monitoring.
As part of Eaton's Power Xpert Architecture, the industry's most versatile Web-based solution for measuring, monitoring,
connecting and managing power systems, Power Xpert meters also integrate into Ethernet networks to provide real-time detection
and Web-enabled reporting of power anomalies affecting equipment performance and system uptime. With such robust
functionality, these meters are ideal for implementations at service entrances, on mains, or any other key circuits that serve
sensitive loads.
"This award reinforces Eaton's commitment to providing its customers with superior power systems solutions," said Jim
Thompson, manager of product management for software & meters at Eaton. "We are pleased to be recognized by Frost & Sullivan
and will continue to uphold our long-standing dedication to serving the power quality meter market."
