Enclosed Definite Purpose Contactors and Starters

Definite purpose contactors and starters are electrically operated switching devices specifically designed for the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC) industry. These compact and relatively low cost devices are suitable for a wide range of low-cycle duty applications requiring low cost switching of single and three-phase loads. They are typically controlled by automatic, i.e. thermostat, control or manual, i.e. pushbutton, interfaces.

Eaton's line of enclosed definite purpose contactors utilize C25 contactors. These units are available in a compact 1 & 2 pole frame between 20A and 40A, a standard non-reversing 2-pole frame between 15A and 90A, a standard non-reversing 3-pole frame between 15A and 360A, and a standard non-reversing 4-pole frame between 25A and 40A. Standard reversing frames are also available for 2-poles and 3-poles between 15A and 75A.

Enclosed definite purpose starters utilize standard frame C25 contactors with either freedom-bimetallic or C396 SSOL overloads. Three phase starters are available up to 60A with freedom-bimetallic, and 75A with the C396 overload. Single phase starters are available up to 40A with freedom-bimetallic and 50A with the C396 overload.

Eaton's line of definite purpose contactors are available in NEMA 1, rated enclosures in a variety of control system and service voltages up to 600Vac.
